Everything for your photo trips
TripPhoto records your trip, places every photo where it was taken and turns it all into a map, route and story. For your next trip it shows photo spots from the community – with golden hour and weather. Here is an overview of every feature.
-
Trips & photos
Upload photos – EXIF/GPS automatically become a map, route and daily stages.
-
Automatic route & transport
Car journeys follow real roads, train journeys the rails; ship and flight appear as an arc. The transport mode can be chosen per leg or is detected.
-
Live tracking with the app
The iPhone app records your path in the background – even where you take no photos.
-
Import recordings (Pro)
Bring tracks from other devices and apps: GPX, KML, KMZ, GeoJSON and CSV.
-
Elevation & speed profile
A smoothed chart across the whole trip – linked to the map timeline.
-
Statistics & records
Everyone sees distance and duration. Pro adds elevation gain, breaks, speed and the trip’s records.
-
Your own waypoints
Add points without a photo – via GPS on your phone – e.g. a car → train change.
-
Trip planner & optimizer
Start, destination, days – the planner calculates the route, places sights along it and learns from other travellers’ plans. Try it without an account, save it with one, edit it with Pro.
-
Edit stops: time, note & name
For every stop a wanted arrival time, your own note and your own name – the length of stay follows from them.
-
Parking, walks & ferry
Car parks near a stop or the destination, the walk from there – and for single stretches ferry, flight or on foot instead of by car.
-
Sights along the way
What lies next to your route – spread all the way to the destination, sorted by the shortest detour, one click into the right day.
-
Fuel, charge & rest
Fuel stations, chargers, rest areas, shops, fast food and cafés up to 5 km off the route – filterable, with place and suggested stay.
-
Discover – sights & photo spots
The best-known sights on the map – with a picture, a short description and visit length, ready to add to a plan. Plus photo spots from real community shots.
-
Airports, shopping, filming locations & more
Places that genuinely help when planning – airports, outlets, stadiums, universities, filming locations, celebrities, lighthouses to national parks – on the same map as the sights, with a picture.
-
Wishlist
Save places without having to plan them right away – and later turn them into a route in one go.
-
Finding wheelchair-accessible places
A filter shows only places whose accessibility is known – from OpenStreetMap, not guessed.
-
Renting a car or an RV
What the rental terms and the authorities actually say – documented, with a check date, no booking and no recommendation.
-
Sample routes
Ready-made routes to follow – such as Route 66 or Texas in ten days. View without an account, take one over as your own plan in one click.
-
When to go & climate
Climate charts for cities in the north, south, east and west: highs, lows, rain and the most pleasant months at a glance.
-
Connect plan and trip
A trip knows its plan: planned next to actual – stops, kilometres, days. As a record, not a rating.
-
Prepare · Travel · Remember
Every trip has one page with tabs – overview, photos, edit and, depending on the modules you switch on, plan, timeline, analysis and film – and shows what matters right now first.
-
Start lean: customise view
The website shows only the essentials at first. You switch on analysis, map tools, film, photographer tools and more one by one – and off again any time.
-
Photo forecast & place knowledge
For planned photo stops: when the light is at its best and what the weather will be. At sights: when and where others like to take photos most.
-
USA trip checklist
ESTA, passports for children, national park fees, driving licence, customs: a timeline to tick off and the rules with official sources and a check date.
-
Share a story
Every trip becomes a cinematic story with map, timeline and gallery – shareable by link.
-
Fly-through (Pro)
A cinematic flight along the route – the map flies your trip, photo by photo.
-
3D terrain (Pro)
The same route over a real elevation model – only there do you see what a mountain pass really was.
-
Print & PDF book
Every story becomes a travel book at the push of a button: title page, one day per page, map and photos.
-
Ratings & photo score
Rate photos, trips and plans with stars. Photo stars feed the explained photo score.
-
Favorites & cover
Mark favorites; set the cover image in the edit area of a photo.
-
Map point only
Hide a photo from all lists/galleries – it stays only as a map point and shapes the route.
-
Day texts & titles with Apple Intelligence (app)
On iPhones with Apple Intelligence the app writes short day texts and suggests trip titles – right on the device.
-
Correct the route on the map
Wrong mode of transport or a wrong turn? Tap the line and set it right – the recording itself stays unchanged.
-
Weather & golden hour
The weather of every travel day, sun position, blue & golden hour and moon phase – for every place and minute.
-

-
Add the photos from your trip (app)

-
Apple Watch & sport mode
Start, stop and save a place from your wrist. While hiking or cycling the watch also measures your heart rate.
